Aljiana

Aljiana, executed entirely of paper, this piece challenges visual perception by materializing an architectural design that often remains illusory. Typically, this pattern appears painted or carved to simulate overlapping forms; however, in this creation, each fragment actually intertwines, achieving a three-dimensional effect that seems impossible to construct.
The inspiration comes from architectural motifs found in Middle Eastern buildings, where the geometric richness and perfection of detail invite contemplation. The artist, captivated by the complexity of these forms, thoroughly researched their variations until he translated them into the language of paper. Intense blue, one of his favorite shades, becomes the visual protagonist here, framed by touches of gold that enhance it and evoke the majesty of Islamic architecture.
This chromatic combination gives the work a spiritual and elegant dimension that reinforces the awe provoked by the composition. The result is a work that not only celebrates geometric precision and ornamental richness, but also invites us to reflect on the possibility of making tangible what seemed unattainable.
