Saqf Mutazayid

The title, Saqf Mutazayid translating from Arabic as "Increasing Ceiling," reflects the work's origin: a single, isolated detail from a larger architectural design, here extrapolated and amplified into a complete statement. Composed of 216 pieces of paper, organized into 36 segments of six layers each, this work is born from the reinterpretation of a fragment of a large traditional roof design. The artist took this architectural motif as a starting point to explore how paper can be transformed into a medium of depth, color, and movement.

Beyond the geometric pattern, the piece comes to life thanks to its physical construction: the layering and assembly not only define its form but also generate nuances of color and shadows that change depending on the light and angle of observation. Thus, each glance reveals a new interplay between precision and perception.

In Saqf Mutazayid, ornamental tradition is transformed into a contemporary space where geometry, light, and paper intertwine in a surprising balance.
