SC01

Titled SC01 / St. Chapelle, this work is a deeply personal homage to the transcendent beauty of the famed Gothic chapel in Paris. Serving as both a technical study and a tangible memento of a visit, the piece seeks to distill the overwhelming experience of Sainte-Chapelle's celestial light and soaring structure into a singular, intimate object.

An extraordinary feat of construction, the work is composed of an astonishing 132 distinct layers of material. This meticulous stratification generates a profound physical depth, inviting the viewer to gaze into its receding corridors of paper. Accents of hand-applied gold leaf catch the light, echoing the gilded opulence of the original chapel and reinforcing the piece’s status as a precious artifact.

A reward for close observation, the intricate tracery design of the windows is intentionally unique on each side, creating subtle asymmetries within the formal structure. More than a mere replica, SC01 / St. Chapelle is a testament to the power of craft to capture memory. It is a window not simply into a cathedral, but into the lasting impression of a sacred space, painstakingly rendered in paper and gold.
